KarakauP (カラカウ) is an independent music producer specializing in J-pop and electronic music. Working exclusively on mobile, they use a unique production pipeline involving PaintVoice and UltraBox (a mod of BeepBox) to create their sound.
The name comes from the Japanese verb karakau (からかう), meaning "to tease."
KarakauP’s work is known for "hidden" callbacks to their debut track. A specific melody and the lyric "the carpet is stained red" (Japanese: juutan wa aka ni somatta) are frequently tucked into newer songs. While this appeared in their first two full-length tracks, the third song notably broke the pattern—marking a shift in their creative direction.
In November 2024, KarakauP released a short archival track titled "Saiko no Utau, Kasane Teto" (最古の歌う、重音テト), showcasing their early composition style. As a mobile-only creator, their current goal is to transition into using Vocaloid or official UTAU software in the future.
